O'Connor happy to let his form do all his talking
AUCKLAND, New Zealand (AP) — James O'Connor proved too elusive for Italy last week, jinking and swerving to inspire Australia's win, and he showed equally evasive skills in sidestepping questions about the lessons he might have learned from his recent disciplinary ban.
Restored to the Wallabies' starting lineup after two tests out for missing official engagements for the World Cup squad, O'Connor wasn't in a reflective mood ahead of the pivotal Pool C match against Ireland on Saturday at Eden Park.
Responding to any query on Thursday about the infamous sleep-in that cost him his starting spot, O'Connor repeatedly said he is just "focusing on Ireland" in a skilled piece of stonewalling that amused the massive media contingent at the team's hotel in Auckland.
